JR III Racing Temporarily Closes Shop Due to COVID-19 Outbreak

Mooresville, NC (26 March 2020) - Due to the rapid developments concerning the spread of the coronavirus, JR III ("Junior Three") Racing has made the decision to close shop operations for two weeks effective March 26, 2020 in correlation with the “Stay at Home” order placed by Mecklenberg County government officials in North Carolina.

Competing in its first full season of the IMSA Prototype Challenge this year, JR III Racing kicked off the season with a top ten finish in the team’s debut at Daytona International Speedway. Father-son co-driving duo, Greg (father) and Eric (son) Palmer, impressed in theri series debut as they brought the No. 3 Copps Industries LMP3 home tenth in a field of 17.

The Daytona outing kicked off a busy schedule of outings for JR III Racing, as the team launched the 2020 season for its long-running vintage competition operation in February with a successful outing supporting a fleet of vintage BMWs and stock cars in SVRA competition at Sebring International Raceway.

The team anticipates an April 9th return to operations for the recently enlarged shop, with preparations for the remainder of the 2020 IMSA racing season as well as vintage competition operations set to resume when the team is safely able to do so.

“The health and safety of our staff is at the utmost importance,” said Team Owner, Billy Glavin. “While we do still have projects in progress, we will get back to working as soon as it is safe to do so. Thank you to our clients for their support and understanding. We wish everyone health and safety during this unprecedented time and look forward to getting back to the shop and back to the track.”

After IMSA’s recent announcement with alterations to the current event timeline, the 2020 IMSA Prototype Challenge season will now be as follows:

July 3-5 Mobil 1 Sports Car Grand Prix/ Canadian Tire Motorsports Park

July 21-Aug. 2 Road America

October 14-17 Motul Petit Le Mans/Road Atlanta

Nov. 11-14 Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring

JR III Racing looks forward to returning to normal operations and racing when state and national government officials deem it safe to do so.
