Daytona, Fla. (5 June 2023) - Jr III ("Junior-Three'') Racing will head south to Daytona International Speedway June 9-10 for a World Racing League (WRL) powered by Hagerty 14 hour endurance race. The Charlotte-based team will be making its WRL debut with its new Aston Martin Vantage GT4 program.
Driving the No. 48 Safe N Lock Storage Aston Martin will be father son duo Marc and Tyler Sharinn, they will be joined by IMSA WeatherTech GT regular Mike Skeen.
Skeen has four 24 Hours of Daytona starts at the Florida track in GT machines including efforts utilizing the Mercedes and Porsche platforms. Skeen’s best finish was in 2022 with a third place finish in IMSA WeatherTech. The WRL Daytona debut will be a first for M. Sharinn, who has also made several starts at the track competing in Historic Sportscar Racing and Sportscar Vintage Racing Association.
“We are excited to get down to Daytona,” said Billy Glavin, owner of Jr III Racing. “We had a few test days and I think the guys will get in groove pretty quickly once we start practicing on Friday. 14 hours is a long race, but I think these guys have it in them. Skeen is no stranger to endurance races having competed in both the Rolex and the 12 Hours of Sebring already this year. It will be a learning experience for us all, and should be a good weekend!”
The team has had several test days at VIRginia International Raceway and Carolina Motorsports Park to help prepare for the Daytona race.
The race will be live streamed on WRL's YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@Racewrl_Go) starting on Saturday June 10th at 8:00 am ET.
