JR III RACING ADDS ROAD ATLANTA TO LIMITED IMSA SCHEDULE; FULL SCHEDULE PLANNED FOR 2020

MOORESVILLE, NC (October 1, 2019) – After a promising debut at Virginia International Raceway, Jr III Racing has set their sights on the IMSA Prototype Challenge (IPC) season finale at Road Atlanta. In late June, the young team took delivery of their new Ligier JS P3 race cars and quickly the goal was set. JRIII penciled in the IMSA event at Virginia International Raceway as their target race to get acquainted with the professional race series, learn their new cars and prepare for two full-time IMSA Prototype Challenge entries in 2020.

Under the leadership of long-time engineer, Rick Cameron and veteran sportscar driver, Kris Wilson, the team would walk away from their debut in late August with a full notebook and a hunger to get back to competition as soon as possible. Proving the endeavor to have been time well spent.

Since then, JR III Racing has been back to business as they know it, fielding SVRA, HSR, and AER clients through their fall schedules. After reviewing the calendar, team owner Billy Glavin, opted to add the IMSA Prototype Challenge event at Road Atlanta to the busy worklist. “We learned a lot and we all left Virginia feeling encouraged. Wins in this series will not come easy so when we saw an opening in the company schedule, we decided to jump on it. The guys are anxious to get back to work on our IPC cars and prepare for the 2020 race season.”

Rick Cameron will be back to guide the team through the final IMSA IPC race of the 2019 season. Following suit, driver Kris Wilson will again pilot the no. 3 entry at Road Atlanta. Jr III Racing is poised to build on the foundation set at VIR. With momentum continuing to build, the team is prepared to open up their seats to an entry in the IMSA Encore at Sebring in November to round out their season.

About JRIII Racing

Jr III Racing was originally founded to provide high-quality race car preparation and trackside support to vintage race car owners in SVRA and HSR. In the company’s early development, the demand for a high-quality prep shop in the vintage sports-car field was heard loud and clear. Owners, Bill and Billy Glavin quickly moved to expand the growing prep shop. In the heart of Race City, USA you will find Jr III Racing has a top of the line, 10,000sq ft facility, stocked with various ex-professional race cars, cared for by NASCAR and sports car series veteran mechanics and fabricators.

After seeing a potential for the vintage paddock to overflow into the professional paddock of IMSA, race cars were ordered straight from Ligier. Jr III Racing is now prepared to give their current and future clients the option of seat time at the professional level in IMSA.
